Hungarian Scout Association in Slovakia
The Hungarian Scout Association in Slovakia is a non-profit organization that is engaged in education of young people. Its target group is the Hungarian youth living in Slovakia, it has an educational programme worked out for them in the first place, but there are adult members too. Scouts can be found all around the country. Therefore, the Association is divided into smaller units – patrols – in each town. Association activities are carried out mostly by volunteers.
Our Goals: to educate Hungarian children and young people living in Slovakia by developing their moral and religious behaviour, as well as their physical and spiritual abilities in the spirit of Scouting. Furthermore, to pass on and preserve the ideas of Scouting at adult age, too.
The 1,372 members of the Association work in 42 Scout Groups located in towns and cities along the border between Hungary and Slovakia – from Bratislava to Kráľovský Chlmec (among others in Podunajské Biskupice, Čenkovce, Tomášovo, Dunajská Streda, Gabčíkovo, Trstice, Hosťová, Nové Zámky, Komárno, Veľký Meďer, Šahy, Levice, Fiľakovo, Moldava nad Bodvou, Košice and Kráľovský Chlmec).
Age groups: Little Scouts (age 7 to 10), Scouts (10 to 15), Rover Scouts (15 to 20), Adult Scouts (20 to 60), Elder Scouts (60 and up).
The weekly held small-group meetings are the supporting column of Scouting. Such a group consists of 6 to 8 members of similar age, who are guided by a skilled leader. In addition to the weekly meetings, Scout Troops organize different activities sometimes only for members, at another time together with other Scout Troops.
